Monday Afternoon....

Even thought it was too cold to go outside, we kept ourselves very busy with board game learning centres!  We played Candyland, number bingo, snakes and ladders, twister and air hockey!  CH said "it's like a pj party in here".  EP said he was having so much fun he didn't want to go home!! Hopefully we can top it tomorrow!  Here are some pictures of our afternoon.

Polar Express PJ Day!

Candy Cane Science

Today we are seeing what happens when we put a candy cane in hot water, and cold water.

What will happen??
Hot water:

CH, WT, MA- "the candy cane will melt"

Cold water:

ME- "the candy cane will sink"

What's happening?

CH- "the colour is melting away"
WT- "it's getting hairy"
EN- "it has no colour"

After a few minutes.....
MA-"the red is coming back!"
EN- "it will get smaller, then disappear"
ME "the cold will stay white, and the hot will stay red"
MA- "the hot water melts faster"

why did the candy cane in the hot water melt faster?

WT- "because it's super hot and makes the Candycane melt"
CH- "heat makes things melt"

This experiment taught us how things dissolves in hot and cold water.  It took 10 minutes for our candy cane to dissolve in the hot water and about 30 minutes for the cold.  See below for pictures of the process ......

Candycane update

Candycane has been very sneaky the past two days.  He is trying to stay hidden but we always find him!  Take a look!

This week we opened our Santa's Workshop in the dramatic area! Check out the pictures below!

Reminders...

**Library books are due tomorrow.  Please return them in their library bags ASAP!!

**We are still collecting men's socks all next week.  Thank you for your generosity so far!!

Next week!!

We have lots of fun activities planned for next week.  Some activities are just in our class and others the whole school is involved in. 

Monday:  PJ Day for the whole school!! We are also having a special 'Polar Express' day to go along with it.  We will be reading the book and setting up our own Polar Express in the classroom, as well as a ticket booth.  Also, afternoon learning centres will be board games to coincide with the schools special board game block.  No need to bring any in, we have lots!

Tuesday:  The St. Anne News show is in the morning and Kindergarten Art-O-Rama is in the afternoon

Wednesday:  We'll be making a special winter treat to bring home!   Since we've been doing such a great job learning, we have earned a special holiday movie to watch for some of the afternoon.

Thursday:  This day we will be building snowmen out of marshmallows and other treats, and making some hot chocolate!  In the afternoon, there is a school sing-a-long in the gym!  We will also finish watching our special movie!

We are hoping for an  extra fun week while we get ready for the holidays!

Candycane update- Wednesday

The kinders were sad this morningbecause we couldn't find Candycane!.  However, when we came back from the gym, it didn't take long to find him!  He was sitting on our counter in an igloo he had made out of sugar cubes!  His note told us he was late becuase he had to carry all the sugar cubes  from the North Pole.  We were very happy to see him!
