Journal Writing

Next month is journal June!  The kinders will be doing lots of work in their new journals over the next couple of weeks.  The jks are making up sentences and copying print.  Today we have sent home a copy of their sentences with a paper  that tells you what they are working on.  Some of the jks even have next steps written down.  These are thing you an work on with your kinder at home.  Today the sks have samples of the writing they did with Mrs. Logan this morning.  Stay tuned for more and have good weekend!

Coin Request from the Kinders

Some of the kinders were so excited about the American coin that it got them thinking about other countries and their coins.  They have asked me to write on the blog  for them..

"Can you bring different kinds of coins from different countries so we can see them"

If  you have any coins lying around we would love to see them and be able to compare them to our money.   We will make sure they get back to you.  Thanks!

Money!!

Last week we started exploring Canadian money. Today we compared real coins to our play money. The kinders sorted, compared and got a close look using magnifyers.  S. was very intrigued by an American dime that was put out and how it differed from our dime.  Here are some pics...

Hockey Fever

We've have some hockey fanatics in our class this year who have been closely following the NHL  playoffs .  Here is the playoff board we made to follow our favourite teams.   Take a look!

Reminders...

May scholastic orders are due Monday.  Please note that the June order will be sent home in early June to ensure orders are delivered to us by the end the year.  This will be the last opportunity to order for this school year.  Thank you to our loyal orderers for your support this year.  You have helped us buy many types books to enhance our inquiry learning.

Special Requests....

With the warm sunny weather it is very important that everyone has a sun hat.  We spend a lot of time outside and want to ensure everyone is protected.

Please make sure that any indoor and outdoor shoes are appropriate for running in the gym and playing on play structures.  This is a big part of preventing falls and bumps.

Also, we are running low on glue sticks which are an important part of our writing centre.  Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help us get to the end of the year.

The Kinder Cafe is Now Open!

We've been busy this week building our new drama centre as a class.  Our kinder cafe is now open.  Take a look at the pictures of the grand opening  below.

This week scholastic orders and lunch lady forms went home.  Scholastic is due Monday, May 26th and Lunch Lady is due Friday, May 30th.  Also, yearbook forms are due back Thursday, May 29th.  You'll find then in your kinders mailbag today.

Ants!!!

We've been super busy over the past two weeks working on our ant inquiry!  We've been having a blast learning about the little insects and we were very excited to show off our discoveries during Catholic Education Week.  Here are some pictures of our inquiry so far...
