Monday Morning Halloween Writing and Math

We've had a busy morning today playing a new game at the math table and writing some French Halloween vocab words at the writing centre.  They were a hit!  Check it out below!

In this game you roll the dice and add the animal that corresponds to the number.  1= a mouse, 2= a bat. 3= creepy crawler, 4= spider, 5= eyeball and 6= players choice

It is a great way to work on counting and number recognition

Food Drive and Halloween Raffle

Our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive has begun and will be running until October 31st .  During this time we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Kanata Food Bank. All donations are greatly appreciated! If you are wanting to send in food with your kinder in their backpacks make sure you write us a quick note in their communication book so we can take it out and bring it to the collection! Introducing our Halloween Drama!

This week we had a school family meeting to discuss what we wanted our drama to look like.  We were noticing that area was becoming less popular and wanted to change things up a bit.  Since pumpkin patches and Halloween are all our kinders can talk about we did some brainstorming!  This is what the outcome was!! See below for pictures of our cool drama area complete with Halloween music.  We've also included pictures of some neat Halloween activities out today.

How many cubes tall is our pumpkin???

Today we used our predicting skills to guess how many cubes tall our class pumpkin is.  We compared one cube and the pumpkin as a visual to help us make our predictions.  We decided as a class the our would not include the stem in our measurements.  During our learning circle the kinders gave guesses of 3 cubes to 50 cubes.  Here's how the process unfolded!

We were able to compare what one cube looked like next to our pumpkin.  This helped us make our predictions!
